HRH Prince Hamza Bin Al Hussein

His Royal Highness was born in Amman on the 29th of March 1980, His Royal Highness received his elementary education in Amman and then attended Harrow School in the United Kingdom. He then joined the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, graduating on 10 December 1999, where he received the Honour Sword (Sandhurst Overseas Sword), which is the highest honour bestowed upon an officer from outside of Britain. His Royal Highness also received the HRH Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Prize, presented to the cadet with the best aggregate mark in academic subjects amongst non-British officers. His Majesty King Abdullah II officially named him as Crown Prince during the period of 7 February 1999 until 28 November 2004.

His Royal Highness, who served in the Jordan Arab Army’s 40th Armoured Brigade and currently holds the rank of Colonel, has attended a number of military courses in Jordan, the UK, Poland, Germany and the US.

His Royal Highness also participated in the Jordan-United Arab Emirates joint forces operating in former Yugoslavia under the umbrella of international peacekeepers.

In the year 2006, he graduated from Harvard University in the United States of America.

HRH also received a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from Kings College – London in July 2011.

His Royal Highness deputises His Majesty King Abdullah II in some occasions and various official duties in the Kingdom and abroad. HRH received a number of high decorations from Jordan, Bahrain, Italy, the Netherlands and other countries, and he heads the Royal Advisory Committee on the Energy Sector, and he is also the Honorary President of the Jordan Basketball Federation.

HRH is also the Chairman of the board of trustees of the Royal Automobiles Museum and the Royal Aero Sports Club of Jordan, and he is also the honorary President of the Arab Association for Robots.

HRH Prince Hamzah’s daughter, Princess Haya, was born on 18 April 2007. On 12 January 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Hamzah married Her Royal Highness Princess Basmah, and they have been blessed with: Princess Zein born on 3 November 2012, Princess Noor born on 5 July 2014, Princess Badiya born on 8 April 2016, and Princess Nafisa born on 7 February 2018.

His Royal Highness holds pilot licenses to fly various types of aircraft, and he enjoys other sports such as skydiving, target-shooting and horse-riding.
